New to Mahjong? You belong at the table. Our beginner gatherings introduce the tiles, building a hand, calling melds, and our house rules at a comfortable pace. We recognize Mahjong’s Chinese origins and the communities that continue to share its traditions.

Our recurring third-Thursday social at tryst. Kitchen + Cocktails pairs Hong Kong-style Mahjong with good food, conversation, and friendly play. Although beginner instruction will focus on Hong Kong-style play, other styles are welcome! We provide tiles; just bring yourself! Visit Eventbrite for available dates and registration.
Your first winning hand starts here
A typical winning Mahjong hand consists of four sets (3 tiles) and a pair. Rules and scoring vary across Mahjong traditions, so we explain our table’s rules before play.
